We are getting ready to head back!!!
We will be in Costa Rica from January 16 until February 28, 2010.

To take a break from the 100+ properties that we manage...once a year (during the slower winter months) our family takes an extended "vacation" to Costa Rica.  Don't worry Justin Baecker at Coldwell Banker will be watching our properties.

We use this time to slow down our pace of life and to experience a lifestyle much different than the one we have come accustomed to in the US.  Instead of cars... most of our commuting is on bikes and walking, we also get a chance to practice our Spanish.  There are no "big box" stores and the closest Burger King is 40 miles away (it is also happens to be a converted bus).  All the restuarants, stores, hotels, etc are owned and operated by families or retired folks from other countries such as Italy, France, Canada, Germany and more....

Costa Rica is a very beautiful country with friendly locals and wonderful geography.  The country varies from cool mountain rain forests, to dry sunny beach towns.  Although some travelers choose to stay in the "all inclusive" resorts we prefer to experience the "real" Costa Rica.  After all, why travel all the way to Costa Rica and feel like your in Palm Springs?

After our first trip we fell in love with a small town called Samara, which is located on the Pacific Coast.  We purchased a lot, built a small home and rent in out as a vaction home while we are in the states.

During our stays we try to "give back" by helping the local schools and the community by volunteering our time and bringing down school supplies for the local kindergarten.

The trips, and the people of Costa Rica reminds us to enjoy the simpler things in life.
